Esstimation Of Wind Potential And Wind Farm Annual Energy Production

Wind Resource Assessment and Annual Energy Production - Wind Farm Design

The next step after analyzing wind data is to estimate the wind potential of the region of interest, ie the spatial and temporal distribution of the mean wind speed, performed by using special software. Prerequisite is the existence of detailed digital maps. The estimation of the distribution of average wind speed in the interest area allows the proper sitting of wind turbines and the estimation of the annual production of the wind farm. The same procedure is followed regardless the size and power of the wind farm.

The study includes:

- A detailed statistical analysis of wind data (refer to page wind data analysis)

- Assessment of wind energy potential in the region with detailed maps of its distribution

- Sitting of wind turbines for maximum performance and minimum wake effects and loads

- Assessment of annual output energy and analysis of losses (wake effects, internal and external power grid losses, etc.), availability estimation and uncertainty rate for various statistical confidence levels.
